Muhammad Arslan Farooqi

Arslan Farooqi (born 1992, in Faisalabad) is a Pakistani contemporary artist. He is currently working as an artist, illustrator and animator in Lahore. Farooqi studied at The National College of Arts Lahore in Pakistan, where he was taught the traditional discipline of Indo-Persian miniature painting. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts. He works in various mediums including; drawing, painting, sculpture, animation, large-scale installation and video. Farooqi’s approach to miniature is rather unique and outside of sparking immediate interest, is engaging, entertaining, intelligent, and progressive. He uses consciousness as a main element in his visual philosophy. His visuals are complex and it takes a close examination to see the assembly of individual components. In most of his visuals, birds represent dynamics of a community, its hierarchies and the way the system works. His works have been featured in Mumbai Art Fair (2023), India Art Fair (2022), India Art Fair (2021), Lahore Biennale (2018), India Art Fair (2018), Karachi Biennale (2017) and several exhibitions,  Symbols in Silence (Solo) at O art Space, Lahore, Pakistan (2023), The Figure of Sound at Anant Art, Noida, India (2023), Nisba at Anant Art, Noida, India (2023), Tranquility at O art Space, Lahore, Pakistan (2023), Ruminate at Chawkandi Art Gallery, Karachi, Pakistan (2023), All things shall Perish at O art Space, Lahore, Pakistan (2022), The Smog Show at Zahoor-ul-Akhlaq Gallery, Lahore, Pakistan (2021), Space in between (Solo) at Chawkandi Art Gallery, Karachi, Pakistan (2021), Behind their eyes at O Art Space, Lahore, Pakistan (2021), Mahiat at Chawkandi art Gallery, Karachi, Pakistan (2019), Seeing and Being seen at Canvas Gallery, Karachi, Pakistan (2018), 3rd multidisciplinary art show, Chittagong, Bangladesh (2017), Obscure dreams of fear and desire" Satrang art gallery, Islamabad, Pakistan  (2017), We ate the birds at Koel art gallery, Karachi, Pakistan  (2017), Microcosm at Gandhara art space, Karachi, Pakistan  (2017), Social Objects at Canvas Gallery, Karachi, Pakistan  (2017); Dil to Pagal hai at Sanat Gallery, Karachi, Pakistan  (2017); The Absolute Truth at IVS Gallery, Karachi, Pakistan  (2016); Ibtida at Studio Seven, Karachi, Pakistan  (2016); Green Signal at Zahoor-ul-Akhlaq Gallery, Lahore, Pakistan  (2016); It’s all about... at Canvas Gallery, Karachi, Pakistan  (2016); News from Tomorrow at Karachi Literary Festival, Karachi, Pakistan  (2016).
